Nearly 200 San Francisco students demonstrated their artistic talent and commitment to sustainability by participating in our third annual “Using Water Wisely” Illustration Contest. Congratulations to Azeza Clark of Jefferson Elementary School, our overall winner. Azeza’s entire class received the contest’s grand prize – a field trip to the San Francisco Garden for the Environment that will provide students with a hands-on opportunity to learn about water-wise gardening and pollution prevention.
The 2013 entries illustrated the importance of water with imaginative drawings and collages portraying practical everyday water conservation tips, plumbing leak repair and rainwater harvesting. Creative inspiration was provided by ‘Our Water’, the SFPUC’s California standards-aligned curriculum unit that introduces children to the Hetch Hetchy Water System and protecting our precious water resources.
Congratulations to all our winners! The contest truly showcased the creativity of the next generation of environmental stewards.
